Irvine International Academy Receives

Top Scores on 2024 CAASPP

Irvine International Academy has outscored every charter school and school district in Orange County in English Language Arts and Science and ranked #2 in Math on the 2024 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). An incredible 89% of IIA students met or exceeded standards in ELA, 82% in math, and 87% in science.

CAASPP measures students' knowledge of the California academic content standards and English language development standards. In spring 2024, IIA students in third to seventh grades took the CAASPP assessments for Mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA). Additionally, students in fifth grade took the California Science Test (CAST).

IIA scores also topped all IUSD schools in ELA and Science and were #2 in Irvine for math, only a few percentage points behind Santiago Hills. This is an amazing accomplishment for a school that is only in its fourth year and teaches curriculum equally between Mandarin and English. Additionally, for many IIA students, English is not their first language. Among all 400+ Orange County elementary schools and TK-8 schools, IIA ranks #1 in science, # 4 in ELA, and #9 in math.

IIA’s CAASPP scores have also improved since 2023. In ELA, the scores have improved by 13% in just one year and an extraordinary 37% in science. This improvement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of IIA students, staff, and families. These scores not only show the high academic achievement of our students, but also help us to continue to improve and grow in our teaching and learning.

A full presentation of the IIA CAASPP Results will be provided at the November 19, 2024 IIA Board of Directors meeting.
